Households are the largest source of food waste, responsible for around 60% of discarded food worldwide. Most of this waste doesn't come from negligence, but from everyday kitchen habits: over-cooking, food sticking or burning and difficult clean-ups that lead ti edible food being thrown away. Food waste at home is also a climate issue. When wasted food ends up in landfill, it releases methane, a powerful greenhouse gas.

In last September, the Australian Climate Service released its National Climate Risk Assessment, a landmark report that outlines the growing threats posed by climate change across the country. And the findings are sobering.
